The Snake And The Magic Garden

Arsenal beat a battling Blackburn side 3-0 on Saturday, a coiled Robin Van Persie springing off the bench and wrapping up the win with an emphatic finish in injury time.

Van Persie's 7th goal in as many games.

Fabregas opened the scoring after only 4 minutes, steering home from 25 yards. Henry added a trademark second from Pires' defence splitting pass, his 100th goal at Highbury, and Van Persie struck late on to make it 3-0.

After the match, Wenger called Highbury Henry's garden.

The score line was perhaps a little harsh on Blackburn who were not totally outplayed, but for all their work rate and industry Rovers lacked the final ingredient to truly compete, class.

After the game Wenger described Robin Van Persie as a deadly snake, "He looks so dangerous. He's like a cobra. You feel he can finish and score goals... The quality of his finishing is outstanding."

Wenger said earlier in the season he didn't want to over use Van Persie, it might be difficult as he is increasingly looking like a special player.. Someone who can decide games.. The type of player who can grow and whose talent will hopefully persuade Henry to stay..

Rooney was in scintillating form for Man Utd as they beat West Ham 2-1 at Upton Park. He was dropping into space expertly and was behind most of Utd's dangerous attacking play. He really is in top form, yet he marred his performance with a stupid lash out at Gabbidon and was lucky to escape a red card. He is still young and undoubtedly has a lot to learn.. But his potential is frightening.

Hopefully someone like Fabregas or Van Persie can come to the fore at Arsenal like Rooney has done at Utd over the last year.. Van Persie is on his way and it is great to see the young players doing well.. I just hope they improve enough to persuade Henry to stay and help us make the new garden flourish..

Quality article, Henry's Garden is our spiritual home and I'm sure 'The Cobra' will make Ashburton Grove Van Persie's Garden (It's reassuring to know that if the worst happened and Henry left - we have Robin 'The Cobra' Van Persie on hand to take over as goalscorer and general hero. Cheers, Richard Godden

I don't think we were completely outplayed in midfield but I agree that we could do with a hard working powerhouse in there to compliment Cesc.. Hopefully (although i doubt it) Arsene will buy in Jan..

Just a little rant!!
Im fed up of supposed fans moaning about wenger tactical nous.

Please explain how a manager can go 49 unbeaten (first time ever done), come second or first in the prem for a decade, and buy a little known winger and transform him into a feared 30 goal a season striker around UK,Euro, World Wide.

All of a sudden we got our own supporters telling us about how weak he is tactically.
Some people dont know they are born HONESTLY!!!!!

There were further comments from Henry (I do not have the link) that most sites aren't posting; he said something about when "WE" move to Ashburton Grove. His other comments recently indicate that he really wants to stay. Oh well, he just keeps getting better and better. Just wish he'd show more interest in the game as captain for the full 90.

thierry will stay, he is class, stylish and has amazing grace and panache on the field. thats his game. thats how he portrays himself, and will love the attention over his contract, and why not heap it on, he deserves every fan and every memeber of arsenal to hold on for his baited breath. wengers reactions to transfer speculation for him is quite amusing now, with an 'amazing' revelation that real want henry, wenger simply mused 'henry is one of the best strikers i nthe world, so i'd rather keep him at this club' = BEAUTIFUL REPOSNSE FROM THE GENIUSE THAT IS MR WENGER

also i think its very easy to seek perfection when you've seen some of the games and the way arsenal complete destruct their opponents, however for all arsenes splendour in seeking attackign free flowing football, the only real negative comes with not for me the work rate which i dont think was lacking v blackburn, but the physical presence.

but then how to counterbalance ? you need a physical workhorse whoms got excellent touch and vision. The name Vieira springs to mind. It was probably a mistake, but to all intents and purposes this mistake may have semed negligible had wenger got his man. The beast. It'd be nice to think we could get an english midfield general, but there arent too many about, certainly none available spring to mind.

WEenger is no mug though and I expect people to come in January, but I wouldbnt expect any big names tho. But then how big were the names, Petit, Anelka and Henry when they joined the ranks. Arsene isnt in for sensaionalist signing like Utd, whats more it doesnt display any transfer nouse and highlights for me a weakness in the side when bringing in big names. Look at newcastle with shearer and owen.

And talking of sensationalist signings perhapes we forget Wenger isnt the greatest at brining in these relative unknowns, perhaps that mantle goes to one man and his decision, Dein and the upper echelons at Highbury who decided to bring a 'young' Arsene Wenger to Arsenal. Arsene Who ?

Rooney can't keep using the "he's young" excuse. As I said to the guy sitting next to me whilst watching the game on sunday, I wish I had been paid 80 grand a week at 19/20 to act like a right c**t.
