LM for Denilson? Almunia, Toure, Senderos, Gilberto and Adebayor must lead well

There are many questions regarding team selection for tonight's game against Sp*rs in the Carling Cup Semi Second leg.

Denilson is obviously a very gifted footballer. Will he be asked to fill the vacant left hand side of midfield? Will he be given Fabregas' role as playmaker with his fellow Brazilian Gilberto?

I think that Almunia, Senderos, Toure, Gilberto and Adebayor will be crucial helping Arsenal make the final of the Carling Cup. That experienced core of players makes up the spine of the team and that's why Denilson's position will be interesting.

Has he established himself as a better footballer in the middle of the park than Flamini? Will he offer a better balance with Gilberto than Flamini?

Can 4-5-1 come 4-3-3 work? Does it offer us more balance?

For the record here's the starting XI (4-5-1)I would have;

Almunia
Hoyte, Senderos, Toure, Clichy
Walcott, Gilberto, Denilson, Diaby, Aliadiere
Adebayor

I think Aliadiere could play on the wing and utilise his dribbling speed and off the ball and direct running to support Adebayor along with Walcott.

I have opted for Clichy ahead of Traore as Lennon is the key man for Sp*rs and if we can keep him quiet then we stand an excellent chance of victory.

I would probably get slated if we didn't get the right result but I think to play Aliadiere on the left with Walcott supporting Adebayor with will mean that we have real pace and directness to counter attack and a bit of extra bite in the middle with Diaby and Gilberto who along with Denilson can help break up the play and start the counters.

Then again.. Maybe I am over estimating the yids!

Kinda funny that our "experienced core" in this match consists of players like Senderos and Adebayor, which are very young. ^^

Clichy must be left back for me. He can stop Lennon effectively, and as you said, Lennon is their key man.

I'd like to see this lineup:
Almunia
Hoyte - Toure - Senderos - Clichy
Walcott - Gilberto - Diaby - Denilson
Adebayor - Aliadiere

Maybe switch Walcott and Aliadiere. I definately don't want to see 4-5-1.

I think Denilson's position heavily hinges on Diaby's performance.
Diaby was lost on the flanks. He needs to play central. Denilson can play on the flanks and offers some genuine width (despite being naturally central)

I say 442. Play Alii deep. Denilson will pass Alii on. In one way it's good that Theo has been underperforming. Right now he is underestimated and has the element of surprise on his side...only and only if he can 'up' his standards.

I have a solution for the left-wing
position. Traore is an offensive left back that could easily play left-wing. I believe Diaby will start on the bench.

I believe the line-up will be:
Almunia
Hoyte, Touré, Senderos, Clichy
Walcott, Gilberto, Denilson, Traore
Adebayor, Aliadiere

I would prefer to have Flamini on the left to help Traore deal with Lennon. Leave Diaby on the bench. This is not really the time to let player which lacks match fitness to get some exercise.

Traore needs to play - it's part of his development and i felt he grew into te game at Shite Hart Lane.

When we lost to the Mancs at Villa park in The FA Cup Semi, Clichy was given a torried time by Ronaldo but Clichy had Ronaldo in his pocket last week. It's all about learning and developing.

Traore looks class already and Lennon will be a good test for him but it's a challenge he can win.

This is a 'MUST QUALIFY' game.
Diaby has not been good since he is back. I guess he is not match fit. He should start from the bench. Denilson should be given Fabregas rule, as he looks to me the player who's got the technical flair of Fabregas, playing the ball simple with high rate of precision in his passing.
If Traore starts left back, Flamini should play left wing to solve Lennon problem.Aliadiere should up front with Adebayor.
So my line up is:

4-4-2:

Almunia.

Hoyte-Toure-Senderos/Djourou- Traore/Clichy.

Theo W.- Gilberto- Denilson-Flamini/Diaby.

Adebayor- Aliadiere.

Possible bench:

Poom-Djourou-Rosicky-Diaby-Clichy-Henry-Eboue.

Arsenal 3- Spurs 1.
