10 man Arsenal draw against 12 man Boro

Let's put it into context. Mike Riley is the biggest homer in the Premiership. It was he who gave Wayne Rooney a penalty after he took a blatant dive against us in our quest to go 50 games unbeaten.

He gave Man Utd 7 penalties in 8 games at Old Trafford before he was taken out of the limelight by the FA.

I expressed my dismay before them game saying if there was a chance in the game to bottle it he would take it. Mike Riley may well be a decent bloke but he is one of lifes bottlers. A spineless yes man.

Yakubu, a 15 stone hulk swan dived to the floor after Senderos went shoulder to shoulder with him outside the box and Riley had the red card out before you could say 'Riley's a homer'.

The lino saw it but big Mike had already made himself a 'hero' for the day by pointing to the spot. Absolute Buffoon.

So Arsenal outplayed 12 men with 10 and looked the more likely to win the game. Boro had 2 shots throughout the entire game, a 'penalty' and a sharp Mark Viduka turn and shot which Lehmann saved.

Arsenal dominated for long periods and although they looked tired they were the better side with Rosicky, Henry and Gilberto all doing well.

Overall a young and tired Arsenal were robbed of 2 points by a weak referee against a Boro side bereft of ideas who were delighted to get a point despite what they have said after the game.

There was only one team trying to win the game in the last 10 minutes and that was the side with 10 men.

All in all a decent point in the circumstances and another result to galvanise the squad and another display of resilience. Arsenal are starting to show some consistency and it's all experience to put into the bag which is getting heavier, as Senderos would say.

Never read such a pile of steaming horse shitt in all my life! Riley gave the Arse everything and I could not believe it when he awarded a penalty! True it could have been just outsdie the area but there was no debate about the fact it was a foul and red card! You also forget that he turned a blind eye to Lehmann going walkies outside his box to set up the equaliser! Also check the stats mate Boro had more possession throughout the 90 mins so how Arse 'dominated' is anyone's guess! take your blinkers of mate you are having a mare!

You have just admitted it wasn't a pen mate and that was one of your 2 shots on target. You were delighted to get a point against 10 men.

Lehmann was inside his box, see the reply.

Riley was appalling and his comedy linesmen equally bad - gave everything to Arsenal.

I don't suppose you were at the game and are basing your views on the TV highlights?

Sorry to have this released, but not only that small referee did a lot of nosense like keeping Viduka on the pitch after elbowing Kolo but was virtually a 12th player for boro!!! I think he didnt give anything to Arsenal bcoz whatever he did later was just a way to cool the stupid decisions he had made before. In reality had he given Viduka a red card it would have been a different game, and am sure he must have realised whal a fool he is after a video replay.
However, no wonder he gave a penalty to them because he enjoys it especially when its Arsenal on the receiving end. But to be fair to him, it is all the fault of English FA. Virtually all the refs in Premiership are fools. It is the first league where referees perform poorly, it is no surprise that when the National Teams from UK go for bigger stages like World Cup, do nothing bcoz the players tend to employ their poor behaviours and get instant penalisation something they arent used to. Remember the Referee from England who awarded 3 yellows to a player and kept him on the field??? That`s enough a sample to tell everything afterall he is so experienced!!!!!!!!! A yellow card to a premiership footballer in another competition is enough to let him look a fool bcoz he knows another stupidity to other referees in Europe or the rest of the world is Red. Please those of you who are in touch with English FA advise them to find away of uplifting the referees` standards in UK.

Were you watching the game I was watching, Rileygive you everything else, apart from the penalty. And to criticise another team's player of swan diving after Arsenal players have been getting away with it for years, is typical southern crap from youi idiots. Over the years, Arsenal wouldn't have the tradition the have if it wasn't for the of dodgey decisions that have gone your way. Grow up.

everyone knows that this homosexual is the manure whore, giving them everything they cannot take by themselves... he is no better than a headless chicken, the worst i've ever seen, also he must be either blind or stupid not to sent off the fat bitch viduka for deliberate elbowing!?!
say the bold chicken "thank you" boro fans, you would not be albe to score in a 900 minutes match if it wasn't the "out-of-the-box" riley's penalty

I am not saying our players don't dive, read back and you will see me saying Eboue's theatrics have been ridiculous at times this season.

Yakubu is a better player than to have to resort to diving.

Yet again another defensive Boro fan saying agreeing the decision was dodgy. Why can't you just admit you were lucky, your player took a dive in a game you were never destined to score from open play.

Then you got dominated by 10 men and refused to press us in case we scored on the counter. Before the game you would have settled for a point and ultimately so did you when you were 1-0 up.

You could have gone for the kill but like Mike Riley, you bottled it.

Your lack of desire was evident and ultimately that's why you'll always been a mediocre team with a few decent players.

Why do football fans have to resort to all this "we are better than you" "no you're not" kind of banter when an adult conversation is all that is required.

I was at the game so for what its worth I will say this:

1. Most Boro fans (me included) would have settled for a draw before the game.

2. Most Boro fans are now disappointed we only got one point from the game.

3. 1-1 was probably a fair result.

4. To the naked eye at full speed it was difficult for the ref not to give a penalty. Yakubu did not dive and it was a foul so you can't complain about the decision to award the penalty and send off Senderos.

5. Both teams played very well and any other day the result could easily have gone either way.

6. The ref was very poor against BOTH teams.

7. Good luck to the Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Well said Anonymous 4:38pm...

I'm a Gooner and have to admit that Riley was giving us everything until the penalty... if I'm not mistaken you Boro fans were chanting that we had the ref as our 12th man...
Yakubu's post match comment ("He didn’t touch me but fortunately we had the penalty") more or less confirms all, and hopefully the spineless FA rescind Senderos' Red card.
I also agree with your first comment regarding the quality of this Blog. It's just an embarassement to all Arsenal fans with many parts just copied from real Blogs such as www.arseblog.com

Wow what a top comment from mr sheep there. I agree that Arseblog is a decent blog but to say that this bloke copies it is a bit harsh!!

I also agree with anon 4:38 and say good luck to the Boro for the rest of the season.

4.38:

Its nice to get a bit of honesty from you, and you are right on most of what you say.

Sendoros would have been sent off by most refs. Yakuba has admitted there was no contact, but most would agree that that was hard to spot.

It was however outside the area...why the fuck didnt the linesman have any input into proceedings?

I hope they dont recind the red card, and Djorou gets another chance to show his skills.

Why have newsnow Arsenal so many liks to this blog?

Boro looked a solid team!

Thank fuck for that, someone who actually watched the same match as me!!

I agree that Boro are a decent side and I have nothing against their fans or them as a team.

However as you say, they were gifted a point that as the home side they barely merited.

The key incidents of the match went against us, Adebayor could have been given onside on another day and Yakubu took a dive which gifts them a goal and reduces us to 10 men.

Boro hardly merited a point? If it wasnt for a blinding save by Lehman and Yakubu hitting the post you'd have been 2-0 down.

As for "Adebayor could have been given onside on another day" - you surely admit he was offside so you'd be quite happy for the ref to get that one wrong and benefit but you're outraged that he should get another one wrong (in your opinion)

A prime example of Riley favouring Arsenal is that he failed to book Adebayor for continuing on and putting the ball in the back of the net ages after the whistle had gone.

I havent seen any comment from Yakubu saying he dived but that was about the third time that he'd gone on a run and been hauled back with the ref ignoring it so it was only of time before he was going to get something.

Get over it and admit that a draw was a fair result.
