Arsenal Called On To Show True Class As Injuries Mean Backs To The Wall
An injury ravaged and stuttering Arsenal side play a confident and improving Real Madrid side in the European Cup last 16 on Tuesday night..
Arsenal only have one fully fit striker. At least that striker is Thierry Henry.
Arsenal have an opportunity to make something of this season and stand up and be counted, that chance starts tomorrow night.
Arsenal will have 3 of the first choice defence out. Although there have been overtures that Ashley Cole will make a surprise return, which would be excellent news. Little has been heard of his recovery but he HAS travelled to Madrid.
That would offer another attacking option. Improve the morale of the squad and serve as a huge and much needed boost. It is heresay as of now though.
The rumors have it Reyes isn't fit enough to start and Bergkamp hasn't been able to shrug off a thigh strain. (Yet to be confirmed)
Bergkamp could be a big boost as he brings the other midfield players into the game and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
Adebayor is ineligible and Van Persie has a foot problem. So the inclusion of Bergkamp could be pivotal in terms of formation. If he is fit 4-4-2 if not the hitherto unfruitful 4-5-1.
Walcott should be in the squad and what a first team introduction that would be. Lupoli will also be on the bench and so we will have options available.
Diaby is a must, he can give us some physical presence and will be an unknown quantity which could be interesting in conjunction with Bergkamp's potential inclusion.
However with all of the injuries, we still have a team which can cause them problems.
We just need to start believing, have a bit of luck, be solid defensively and more importantly take out chances.
Against Real we will have chances, like teams do against us, no matter how dominant we are. Like Villa last night, who should have lost by 2 or 3 goals, if you are ruthless you can take something from the game.
It is time to show some of the old fighting spirit, backs to the wall stuff.. If we can get a result against Madrid then we can get a result anywhere and play with some confidence and get the season going again.
Tottenham dropped another 2 points yesterday and if we can get a run going it is there for the taking. This is as important a time as I can remember in recent years. It could be as pivotal as Chelsea beating Liverpool to the fourth Champions League place a few years ago. John Terry could have left (possibly for us) and Abramovic might not have corrupted Chelsea with his millions.
As the season reaches it's climax..
It's time to stand up and be counted. No doubts about that.

The Arsenal team has been great but its time to cut the underperformers out and bring in the fresh blood for the war ahead I know what your thinking too many changes too many new face’s how will the team adapt in time where will we get the money to have six more sigings. The answer is simple if you want to beat the best you have to be the best.
whole sale changes need to happen the team has gone as far as it could (Bergkamp,Ljunberg10m,pires,Cygan1m,Almunia2m,GilbertoSilva6m, Reyes9m) there is a cancer in arsenal these are the players who need to be cut out at one time all (except cygan)have been so valuable and incredible to arsenal.

(Bergkamp) the legend is old and deserves to retire,gave me such joy in his first few seasons with arsenal and even when he got old he still tries.
(Ljunberg) is a legend but is living off his past glories he just doesn’t cut it when we play the likes of Chelsea/Utd/Liverpool/Valencia/Byern.M. he needs a change for to be challenged again as he seem to play within him self and although I know he lost his speed he still doesn’t try enough.
(pires) what a player he was but injuries have taken there toll on him still good for a few goals a season so mabey we could keep him.
(Cygan) Has never had one season where he has been worth what arsenal paid for him,he is just blocking the places of young talented people like Ryan garry and djourou.
(Almunia) a good goal keeper but always just a back up and why Have someone who is only good at saving penalty’s?? Mark howard is a young English goalkeeper who deserves a chance we have the carling cup and that would be the ideal place to see him tested.
(Gilberto) this has been his worst season for arsenal also his first season with out Patrick to support and what a difference that has been he has been exposed as a been the supporting cast and not the main engine room that you arsenal need scotty parker would be a better replacement and at least parker can shoot from out side the box a quality that gilberto and the rest of the current arenal team seem to lack.
(Reyes) I had such high hopes for rey rey he scored an incredible debut goal against the Chelsea chavs but recently he has just been running into opposition players and losing the ball most of the time when he should be running slower with the ball and either getting powerful shots on target to test the keeper or slotting people in I think arsenal should give him until the end of the season and if he does not improve drastically, sell him.(the only problem is wenger thinks the kid is great but I think he’s a sub at best Bring on raquilme.

(Hilderbrand) he is so consistant for his team and would provide Arsenal with something we have not had in a long long time A real world class keeper that other team would die to have (this guy is chech Class)
(W.samuel) this is one of the best defenders in the world he along with (Chivu and Andrade) are the kind of defenders that arsenal need………………… (World Class Defenders)
(Scott Parker) industrious, hard working, Scores from outside the box, will work harder than any one when we play Chelsea, you need player like this if you are going to win things may not be the biggest name but he will be if arsenal get him.
(Raquilme) one of the few playmakers in the world that can unlock any defence a must buy even if he is arsenals only buy 20million is cheap for what he can do for us.
(Andrade) a real battler would die for his team especially if arsenal pay him what he is worth( but we should only get him if we couldn’t get W.Samuel which is why I think it more likely that Andrade will be in an arsenal shirt next season.
(Yaya Toure) he wants to come to arsenal, and arsenal want him to come to arsenal a good squad addition and mabey even a starter depending on his quality’s.
the players arsenal need are 1.Raquilme, 2.Parker, 3.Hilderbrand, 4.Samuel,5. Andrade, 6.Yaya… Arsene Wenger can make this happen he can get around 20-30 million for the players going out and it would cost between 49-57 million to get these players in fortune favours the brave….and if you want to catch you have to spend big in the summer to save the premiere league from being a one horse race for the next two years.

Is diaby cup-teid for the madrid game? Someone on here seems to think so, but everyone else seems to think he's available. I have no idea, to be honest!
Not sure about the players you've chosen to buy, but I think it's certain need to lose Gilberto, who has underperformed massively this season and has been shown to not really have the quality or the balls for centre midfield in the premiership.
I'm not sure about your freddie.pires evaluation - from what I have seen Freddie has atleast tried in recent matches. Pires seems to be shot of all motivation and if he's not prepared to put the effort in I'd be inclined to keep freddie and let pires go.
In all honesty though both are well below par this season so we actually need some new wingers.
As for reyes, I love him but he falls down and runs down blind alleys - although recently he's been releasing the ball early to TH to run on to behind the opposition defence (like Cesc tries to do) and that has been working well so maybe Reyes just doesn't have the brains to work out how to play to to Arsenal's strengths. He's a good passer, but is a bit too individual.
After 2 years at Arsenal you'd have hoped he would have been more into the arsenal ethic though ....
Anyway, whatever team Wenger puts out tomorrow they need our support.

Unofficial report is that Cole is fit though and will play against Becks. Question is if he is fit, how fit is he? i.e. can he play 90 minutes up and down the pitch like a 100% fit Cole.
Also another interesting development is that Cole is NOT in the 18 man squad. As the gun says. Diaby is available, Adebayor is cup tied and Walcott is ok for CL. Reyes in IN the 18 man squad. Mysterious stuff. Apparantley Cole HAS tarvelled. All will become clear.. In time!
It's a shame Cole isn't playing, don't know where the usually reputable ANR's Myles Palmer got that one from, but he appears to be a little wide of the mark.
Isn't there an option to change it right before the last minute? Why Wenger would do that is unclear.. But they did it with Ronaldo in 98. A little far fetched but here's hoping!
